Tomorrow’s Tribes: Storytelling Kits for Contemporary Subcultures – Long Distance Truckers
Description
For my project, I was tasked with the long-distance trucker subculture, defined as ”professionals who drive trucks over long distances, characterized by a unique lifestyle on the road, and a close-knit community with its own customs and jargon.” From this, I imagined a world that only interacted through trucks and trucking, creating a landscape where everything was accessible by road, even the interiors of buildings. Trucks became the home, taking on a form that was larger than life. Examples of these trucks were crafted and explored, being influenced by cultural paraphernalia like gaming and the Dolly Parton Stampede. Finally, an animation was produced to bring this highway-fueled reality to life, where long-distance trucking truly ruled the road...and the world.
